Medical school to apply!!

Hi … my GCSEs are 8888777666…UCAT is around 4th to 5th decile… I can understand it’s a low to average scores in both… can you please help which medical school should I apply to?

It's already past the ucas deadline. Have you taken the UCAT yet or is that just on practice?

Year 12 …

How did u sit the ucat in year 12 already? If you’ve just started year 12 you should be sitting it next summer

No I have started doing tests practice… but my scores are not good at all … just checking my scope to get in medicine with these GCSE’s and UCAT levels … can you help ?

If you've only done practice so far then any scores you are getting on the ucat right now don't matter. A couple months before I took my ucat I was still getting less than 2300 and I managed to improve so much throughout the summer holidays and came out with 2850. Considering my first medify test was 1900 I'd say that was a big improvement 🙂

dude you’re still at the start of year 12, focus on getting good predicted grades and nailing your subjects. i didn’t even study for my ucat and i got 2750 b1 so you really just need a couple weeks to prepare, use your summer for it because it’s too hard to try prepping during school time. you don’t even need to be thinking about the ucat until after your end of year exams.

Don't panic. Focus on subjects to get good predicted and make sure you're completing work experience, volunteering. My daughter started studying for UCAT at end of Y12. She was getting awful scores to start - around 1st decile. She followed online advice, used medify for a few weeks and improved to get 2670 (69th decile). Many unis don't even look at GCSEs. Use the 'My UCAT strategic applications' to help you see which are the best unis for you once you have your predicted and UCAT and don't book your UCAT until late August or early September 2025. You've got plenty of time...a lot of unis don't look at GCSE's as heavily, so you can look at applying to them! Just focus on A-levels for now, then 2-3 months before the UCAT start to do some intense prep!
