If I haven’t heard from BAE systems now is it unlikely that they ahve got many spaces come up and that I may be offered a place. I was on reserved list since may/ April for supply chain Portsmouth degree apprentership . I haven’t heard anything and it’s rlly frustrating. Is it now out of reach as I know some ppl in this chant have already been offered but I haven’t, is this a bad sign as results day was the 14th now the 15th so if ppl was going to door out I’m sure they would have on results day? What do you guys think?

I envy people who had an easy time with the security checks, had one thing not straight forward for mine and I have to email them over an over again to sort it out and finally UKSV just cancelled my application because they didn't respond.
At this point, not even sure if it matters if they would have given me a spot. Honestly really unprofessional, they've made the process really stressful when it didn't need to be.

Oh that is shocking! Where did you apply for and what for?? Who was supposed to be dealing with it who was you emailing ? Sounds like a plava! Did you actually get a space but was waiting on the checks? I’m sorry you experienced this!!

Depends I know some people who didn’t meet the grading requirements from results day and were still able to do the apprenticeship. Some are abit flexible , maybe try reaching out to follow up and express you interested

Is UKSV the company you was going to work with for your apprenticeship? By security checks do mean background checks ? Did they also cancel you application for the actual apprenticeship program or just for the checks ? If so If you met their entry requirements you can definitely appeal in time to start , when was the start date ? Did they mention why it got cancelled, they also need to give you a reason why

UKSV is United Kingdom Security Vetting, government office. My application for the apprenticeship is still valid, but considering how slow they've been up until now, I don't see how it can get done before the apprenticeship starts.

Anyway I was on the reserve list and no offer yet so we'll see, but I already was prepared to not get an offer despite them saying 80% chance not too long ago lol

Project Management, Barrow. I was on the reserve list anyway, which honestly makes it more annoying because I'm doing all of this without an offer haha.
I've been emailing everyone from UKSV, to Matrix to BAE. They only respond half the time and they never actually answer me, just some bare minimum response.

I’m also on reserve list it’s so frustrating!! Want the job. Please update us how you get on/ if you get an offer. The whole 80% sh*t im beginning to think was a number to get our hopes up and not ‘forget’ about them. Idk feel like it’s not true whatsoever. I feel like if gunna have an offer due to spaces would be on results day or the day after.. slimming chances now.

I wouldn’t put much hope into getting an offer at this point. They’ll call the people they are going to make offers to first then contact the people who aren’t after.

Well obviously I’m aware of this I’m not totally naive.

I’m guessing you haven’t heard either?

Hey, is there anyone who is apart of the apprenticeship team for the DTS role in Preston? Would like to know before work starts so I do know anyone beforehand.

Reply 433

I heard back about getting moved off the reserve list. I'd already accepted another offer so I declined.

If you guys need any tips, I am a 2024 degree apprentice for Cyber, and I'd be happy to answer any concerns

Hi. Can you tell me if there is a real advantage in doing a Degree Apprenticeship with BAE over doing a Higher Apprenticeship with BAE? (Other than you get a degree of course!). What I’m wanting to know is - is the pay at the end of the apprenticeship much better if you’ve done the degree rather than the Higher Apprenticeship - and is career progression within BAE much better/faster if you’ve done the Degree rather than the Higher? Specifically trying to choose between Degree Apprenticeship in Supply Chain Management with Procurement OR Higher Apprenticeship in Procurement and Supply Chain. Essentially - whether both essentially offer the same opportunities/progression within BAE, or whether the Degree Apprenticeship definitely opens more doors within BAE? Many thanks for any advice/info.

Hello! I don't actually know too much about the level 4s to give you a good answer as such. As you mentioned a degree apprenticeship will of course give you a degree which is it's highest benefit. A level 4 will give you the first year equivalent of a degree. I believe level 4s are a bit less competitive so if you're wanting to get work experience sooner and don't mind not getting a degree yet then in that case it's better? I don't think there's a difference in pay, though it might depend on the part of the business etc. Both job roles should say how long each apprenticeship actually lasts. I will ask my early careers person for you and see if I get a response that can give you further information!

Thanks Forgetful007, that would be really helpful.
