Student finance England - independent status

To whom this may concern,

I was just wondering if I’am granted independent status for the duration of my studies does this mean I qualify for max maintenance loan as that is what I will apply for.

Many thanks

If you’re independent then your household income will be based on your own unearned income (trust funds, property etc) plus that of any spouse.

If you’re single and don’t have loads of savings/investments/trust funds etc then you’ll get the maximum loan because your household income will below the minimum threshold

Hi Lewania,

Yes, you will be awarded the maximum based on your own circumstances.

Thanks,
Claire
