Scotland Uni UCAS application

I’m scared I’m going to get no offers. School sending in application in 2-3 weeks.

I got AAAB in S5 and doing three highers and one advanced this year in s6.

I’m applying to study IR/politics and modern language at Scottish unis. Entry requirements for unis are: BBBB, AABB, AAAA & AAAAB by end of s6.

Am I likely to get any offers,
? I’m so anxious.

Youll likely get unconditionals from the first two and conditionals the rest as u havent met the grade requirements yet, for the AAAAB by end of s6 uni depending on how strong your personal statement is youll either get a conditional or a rejection but i doubt it. Other things like your predicted grades and references also matter but going off of just what youve said thats what i think

You have great grades, OP. I'm not in charge of the unis but if you're talking about grades alone you'll be absolutely fine with those grades.

I’ve been given 2 x unconditionals (I had already required grades for these), still waiting for the other 3 replies.
If you have a strong personal statement and predicted grades then you should get a few unconditionals. Glasgow have given quite a lot of kids at my school an unconditional for having 5 As even though the typical offer is 6

Strathclyde is one of the unis I’m waiting to hear back from and probably my 1st choice, anxious that I haven’t heard back will this likely be after UCAS deadline?

Don't worry that you haven't heard back yet - there's still lots of time and it's normal to not have heard back still 🙂 Some of our faculties will make offers later and others might wait until after the deadline, but until you hear otherwise you're still being considered.

What have you applied for - is it Politics and International Relations or similar too? 🙂

Great, thanks for letting me know 🙂 We get lots of applications for that programme so it's normal for admissions teams in Humanities and Social Sciences to wait until after the UCAS deadline to consider lots of their applications. Some may hear back sooner, but until you hear otherwise you're still being considered so try not to worry too much just now.

Let me know when you hear back!

I've applied for IR and IR+/politics at all Scottish Unis too, where did you apply and which unis have given you offers. I've heard back from Edinburgh but that's it.

I’ve applied to university of Aberdeen, Stirling, Edinburgh, St Andrews and Strathclyde. Have 2 unconditionals for Aberdeen & Stirling. Not heard back yet from Edinburgh, St Andrews or Strathclyde.

Are you Scottish, RUK or International student. Did you get unconditional offer for Edinburgh?

I'm Scottish from the north east. I got an unconditional into Edinburgh a week after I applied for IR in mid December time. it was my second choice which is annoying because I could be waiting months and months for ST. Andrews which is my first. I've not heard from anyone else yet but I've applied to Aberdeen, Strath and 2 courses at ST. Andrews; one IR and the other IR and middle east studies.

I’m also in NE Scotland. Congratulations on your unconditional for Edinburgh, what are entry requirements for course? What grades did you get in S5? Predicted S6?

I got AABB in s5 in English, history, French and politics. I’m doing Spanish, modern studies, and advanced English in s6. I think Edinburgh had the highest entry at 5 A’s but I don’t think my school counts for contextual offers so I’ll just have to chalk it up to a really good statement. St. Andrews is a little lower at 4As 1B but I think they’ll be less lenient. I’m predicting a conditional for A’s in Spanish and modern. As for grades I think I’m predicted at either 2 A’s or AB depends on the prelim results though.

That’s really good, any tips for Spanish and mods? I got 30/30 in the politics assignment if you need tips. Where abouts in the north east are you if you don’t mind me asking

Well done with Politics, I’m hoping to get an A. Will think about any tips I’m in middle of focusing on prelims at moment.

Amazing, you got unconditional for Edinburgh if not contextualised without full entry grades. Your personal statement must have been excellent, they must want you! Live in Aberdeenshire, you?

Yeah I’m Aberdeenshire too. Politics was really interesting and getting an A is not out the picture at all especially that you’ve already done mods.
