One hour commute, need help

Hi I’m currently in year 12 and I moved sixth form. I chose a school that takes about an hour 15 one way, which is stupid I know. I had the option to pick one about 50 minutes away but I didn’t like the school as much.

I feel so stupid for picking this school because I spend so long getting to school and back. My mum drives me to school, which takes about 40 minutes, but she always gets angry at me because it takes her an hour to get home. I feel so bad, but cannot get there in time because I would have to leave just before 7. How can I fix my schedule to wake up early? I feel so sorry for my mum and I hate myself for making this choice. Because I get home late (around 4.30 to 5) I spend all my time working and doing homework, so I stay up late to do things I actually want to do. How do I fix this? I’m sorry I just sound stupid and dumb for picking a school so far away and that I can’t wake up early, but I really need help :frown:
Can't your mum drop you off at a train station or a bus stop (if there isn't one within walking distance) instead of driving you all the way there and back twice a day?

As for getting up, just set alarms, geez!

Can you not get a train or bus for public transport? Because if you do that - then bam, do the work on the train so you save some time at home. Or like the previous user said - can't your mum drop you off somewhere? Makes it easier for her too.
Also make the sacrifice of cutting down time for some of the things you like to do late at night because thats clearly impacting you and it doesn't seem like you have many options atm. You can do them on the weekend.
hi! when i was in years 10-11 i was in foster care so i moved homes quite a bit but never moved school, so i struggled with 1hr+ commutes too 🥲

the harsh reality is that you will just have to adjust to leaving the house early in the morning, i recommend trying to go to sleep at around 8-9pm - i liked/still like listening to asmr, nature sounds or lofi music to help me relax and unwind. i also started drinking coffee daily, which ik isn’t really healthy but a student’s gotta do what a student’s gotta do to get through the day. it’s a lot cheaper to make coffee at home than it is to constantly buy a latte from a costa or greggs, so if you drink it then make it yourself!! saves soo much money. plus during half term i could quit drinking it to reset my tolerance a bit and makes it less bad for you….. i think. it probably doesn’t tbh but i like to see it that way 😭

also ik it sounds sort of counterintuitive but aim to get to school early, i aimed to get to school at 8:20 instead of 8:50 like i had to be bcs that 30 mins acted as a buffer for if i was struggling to wake up on time or if there were any train delays. yes you’ll be more tired (hence the need for coffee 💔) but on the plus side at least you’ll have no issues with sleeping earlier than usual 😭 also try to do revision and stuff during your commute, i had/have google docs, google slides, quizlet and seneca downloaded on my phone so i can just use them anytime and anywhere to get work done

hope this helps <3
hey sorry to hear this, it'll get better once it doesn't get dark early and don't call yourself stupid and dumb. can you afford driving lessons when you turn 17?
