hi! when i was in years 10-11 i was in foster care so i moved homes quite a bit but never moved school, so i struggled with 1hr+ commutes too 🥲
the harsh reality is that you will just have to adjust to leaving the house early in the morning, i recommend trying to go to sleep at around 8-9pm - i liked/still like listening to asmr, nature sounds or lofi music to help me relax and unwind. i also started drinking coffee daily, which ik isn’t really healthy but a student’s gotta do what a student’s gotta do to get through the day. it’s a lot cheaper to make coffee at home than it is to constantly buy a latte from a costa or greggs, so if you drink it then make it yourself!! saves soo much money. plus during half term i could quit drinking it to reset my tolerance a bit and makes it less bad for you….. i think. it probably doesn’t tbh but i like to see it that way 😭
also ik it sounds sort of counterintuitive but aim to get to school early, i aimed to get to school at 8:20 instead of 8:50 like i had to be bcs that 30 mins acted as a buffer for if i was struggling to wake up on time or if there were any train delays. yes you’ll be more tired (hence the need for coffee 💔) but on the plus side at least you’ll have no issues with sleeping earlier than usual 😭 also try to do revision and stuff during your commute, i had/have google docs, google slides, quizlet and seneca downloaded on my phone so i can just use them anytime and anywhere to get work done
hope this helps <3
