If you drink 45 units alcohol a week how long to get liver disease?

If you drink around 45 Uk units of alcohol each week, how many years would it take to get liver disease?

Those drinking 40-80 g per day had an increased incidence of fatty liver and alcoholic hepatitis, while those drinking more than 80 g per day had an increased incidence of liver cirrhosis. The threshold for liver damage was seen to be 60 g per day, or 49 units per weekin this study

It will vary from person to person

Is liver disease something you are aiming to achieve?

If you drink any amount of alcohol, your life will be less happy, healthy and functional for it. But the amount that medical experts call a "sensible recommended intake" is 14 units per week, i.e. not more than approximately 2 drinks per day. That would be a good target.

This is misleading - 49 is very likely to be harmful, it's over three times as much as the recommended sensible limit.
