Would LLM in IP & Technology in UEA be worth it?

I'm going to enroll for September 2025 intake for LLM in IP & Technology law.
As an international student, what are the career prospects?

Hi there,

An LLM in Information Technology and Intellectual Property Law at UEA could be a fantastic choice, especially as tech and digital innovation continue to dominate industries globally. The course focuses on important areas like protecting intellectual property and tackling legal challenges in the digital age—essential skills in today’s world.

As an international student, this qualification could open up a range of opportunities, from working in top law firms or corporate legal teams to roles in government agencies or international organisations. UEA has a solid reputation for providing the skills employers look for and they also have the Career Central which help you craft a compelling application.

UEA also offers brilliant support for career development. From networking events with law firms to hands-on experience through its pro bono initiatives (they’ve won national awards for it!), the Law School is well-equipped to help you stand out. Plus, the alumni mentoring scheme can give you invaluable insights into the industry (in fact, Career Central generally has a number of Alumni contacts worldwide, which really help out with employment opportunities!).

On top of all that, Norwich is a brilliant place to live and study—beautiful, affordable, and with a strong student community. If you’re keen on a career in this exciting field, UEA could be a fantastic stepping stone.

Good luck,
Daniel

Thanks for the reply. As an international student I want to know about the part time jobs in Norwich while studying. Also, does UEA arrange Law Job fair?

Absolutely! You'd just need to be sure you comply with your visa requirements. Generally you can find numerous student jobs, paid internships, and work placements both on campus and in the city on the Career Central website.

Regarding career support, UEA Law School, in collaboration with the UEA Law Society and Careers Central, organises various events to boost employability. These include careers panels, commercial awareness workshops, mock interviews, and networking events.

Best,
Daniel
