Can i apply to AAA architecture course with A*AB

Im apllying for architecture. My grades are currently
Art: A*
Physics: A
Maths: B
I want to apply to,
1.Cardiff
2.Sheffield
3.Ucl
4.Lancaster
5.Liverpool/manchester/brighton/oxford brookes (not too sure yet on the last option)
Most of these courses require AAA does my A*AB suffice? And should i apply to more safety schools?

Best to ask them before making an application. Some will be fine with it, others won't (especially if it's competitive or you're lacking the grade in a core subject).

I would add one/two that is more ABB as a safety. Or one that is a UCAS point requirement rather than grades, if one exists

Your most risky choice there is UCL - it isn't 'better', its just because its in London and therefore it gets thousands of application, increasing the competition for places.

I don't know all the grade requirements for your other choices, but A*AB is not the same as AAA, and Unis nay either not accept this, or it may be unrealistic for you to even achieve any AAA offer you are made. Think carefully about the reality of this. This may determine how many lower grade choices you feel you need. Just make sure that all your choices are RIBA accredited courses - RIBA Validated schools

probably not, my brother got rejected from ucl + other unis when he got A*AB instead of AAA and had to resit year 13 😭 though tbf he was applying for biomedicine which is much more competitive than architecture, i’d assume

id recommend looking for unis with ucas point requirements to apply to instead and try to negotiate w whoever’s predicted you a B

Cardiff has shown flexibility in the past so might be a good aspirational choice.

Sheffield is competitive and is a riskier choice. They do stick to the AAA offer.

UCL - you meet the entry requirements, but it is very competitive. Worth a shot if you have a strong portfolio.

Lancaster - you meet the entry requirements.

Fifth option - needs to be safe. So pick OB or AUB over Manchester or Liverpool.

Have a look at the A Levels for Architecture thread for more options and the average entry tariff.
