Approved loan - National Insurance Number application

SLC loan application approved. 1st term payment ok. Next payments temporarily blocked until National Insurance Number sent to SLC. National Insurance Number application on hold, until EUSS application decision. Have Valid EUSS COA and share code and awaiting for decision. EUSS COA clearly states, amongst others, “right to work”. Job centre said that they can not issue NINo until EUSS COA decision. Is there a way to solve this / pretty stuck here.

Hi babatsa,

It would be the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) that could confirm that for you. Your payments will be unblocked once you provide a valid National Insurance Number (NINO) that can be verified with the DWP.

Thanks, Clare

Thank you Claire!
DWP issues NINOs through job centres, as I understood it. After a scheduled appointment there, where they checked all documents (passport, valid COA - right to work , etc , found them all OK) , they said that they can issue NINo only with EUSS application decision - although valid COA gives right to work. How can someone with the right to work is not issued a NINo to work ? And without NINo, loan payments are blocked. Pretty stuck in a loop - any suggestions for NINo issue?
Many thnx
Thanassis
Hi babatsa,

You would need to provide what evidence the DWP/job centre have requested, as that is external to our policy, we would just require the valid NINO when it is available to you.

Thanks, Clare
