Year 13 Study Schedule

For those in Y13 and above, do you think it's best to study one subject per day or spread your revision across all subjects in the same day(s)? I am currently struggling to find what's best for me as I also need to prioritise consolidating Y12 content.

Hi @Alex CJ 😄

I would say that it's definitely best to revise in whatever way is easiest for you! Personally, I found it the most effective to vary the subjects I would study in one day as spending all day on one subject wasn't as useful as at a certain point, information would stop going in. I also found it best to go over whatever topic was taught that day in class, which helped solidify the content in my mind.

Try a few different things out to see what works for you and then stick with that! I also found it useful to make a revision timetable so I could clearly see what subjects I should tackle when.

Does this help at all?

Hi @Alex CJ,

I also had trouble finding the "sweet spot" when I had to revise whilst balancing all my subjects, but my tutor gave me a tip that really helped me.

All the revision I did after school, I would devise a revision schedule which mirrored my actual school timetable. E.g If I had Biology and Chemistry on Monday and Thursdays, then at home I would revise for those subjects, going over the same topics we did in class that day. There's research that shows you're better at solidifying the content/material when you revise it right after you learn it. During these sessions, I would refine notes, blurt and attempt topical questions.

And after I go over the topics we learnt in class, I would pick one topic from year Y12 and repeat the process with that topic- refine notes, blurt and attempt topical questions.

By the time mocks and final exams came around, I found that I was able to confidently cover full past papers.

Hope this helps,
