SFE funding

I have completed 60 credits with Open University and am doing another 60 credits currently, part time. I am applying however to do a full time Degree in a brick uni in Sept 2025 in a different subject and wondered how this affects SFE funding. I have been told different things, somebody said that part time funding and full time funding come from different pots so I will be able to claim for all 3 years. However, when I contacted SFE they were all confused and thought I had been studying full time for 2 years when it was part time and said I only had 2 years funding left, but then after persisting that the OU was part time they then said that I would have full funding for the brick uni. I'm now unconvinced lol, so wanted to check with you guys. thank you for your help and advice.
Hi rttnhughes,

Will you gain a qualification from your part time course?

Thanks, Clare

I'm currently doing BA Hon Business Management Degree with OU and completed 1 year and on year 2 of a 6 year part time degree. I've only had £6935 funding for both these years but SFE were making out I had had £18000 for 2 years worth of funding and I only had available 2 years.
Hi rttnhughes,

Just to confirm, would you receive a qualification or exit qualification from the part time course prior to the full time course?

Thanks, Clare

It's a 6 year degree and I've only done 120 credits, so no I wouldn't receive my qualification. I would be exiting it to start another degree.
Hi rttnhughes,

If no qualification is obtained from the 2 years study part time, then you would be eligible to receive the full time full support for the new eligible course. The part time study is only taken into account when a qualification is obtained such as an HNC/HND or Degree.

Thanks, Clare
