Hello, not seen any threads for this yet!
Looking to see if anyone has interviews for any of the universities for PGDE Primary/Secondary…
So exciting!!!

I have a deferred entry for UWS primary and I’m going in August

Anyone for either Math or Comp. Science PGDE ?
I don't see many for Computer Science in general, on most threads - looks like not many people go with that ?

Thank you so much for this. And congratulations on your offer.

Good luck to you. I'm still waiting to hear the outcome from my UWS, Ayr interview 2 weeks ago, so no final decisions made yet.

Thank you. Done the best I could so it’s a wait and see - the wait is horrible

I applied to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Strathclyde and Dundee for Primary! I got an interview offer from Dundee but nothing from the others yet. To be fair, I submitted my application on the 27th of Jan. Anyone else had an interview at Dundee and if so how did it go?

Has anyone heard back from Edinburgh for PGDE secondary mathematics in particular? Or other related subjects? Or for people who have heard back what was the waiting time to hear about an interview?

I applied fairly late, but already had my Glasgow interview and scheduled to interview with Edinburgh-Napier later in the month.

Hi,

Not a maths candidate myself but today at my Edinburgh interview it was mixed faculties so there were a few mathematics students that were there

Edinburgh emailed last week to ask my to change from Physics to Geography, which I was happy to do. And I've just had an email through from them inviting me for interview in a couple of weeks! How long was the whole process? Just wondering if I should take the whole day off work for it.

How did you find the interview overall?

Amazing congratulations!!

The interview itself is quite a lot. Questions were fairly intense atl for biology and compared to my other interviews! My best advice would be to prepare for a lot of questions regarding key concepts and core values of teaching and make sure to brush up on topics you find interesting regarding your subject- they threw a few into my interview and it caught me off guard!

Best of luck

Forgot to add in my previous reply but the whole process was about 4 hours but it kind of just depends when your interview is scheduled for/if they are running on time

I've personally requested the whole day off, but I'm travelling a little bit for it and thought I'd make a day of it. Surprised they asked you to change subjects? Was it because your undergraduate was in geography?

Thanks for the info 🙂 couple questions I had: how was the group task? Obviously not expecting you to disclose the exact details, but interested in anything can share. Also, in regards to subject specific knowledge, did they actually test your knowledge of biology specifically (as opposed to general teaching-related questions)? You said to prepare for topics we find interesting, so is it best just to prepare some stuff that we're interested in, or to be prepared for potential questions around any of the core areas of the curriculum (i.e. I'm applying for maths, should I just recap my main interests such as linear algebra, or should I be prepared for questions on calculus, trig, algebra, etc.)? Thanks so much 😊

The group task was just a general ice breaker, I don’t believe it was assessed. Different groups were assigned different questions about teaching in Scotland and it was just a quick chat about our thoughts. I really enjoyed this part as it made me feel a lot less nervous- I guess that’s why they include this.

I found in mine it was more subject specific knowledge they were interested in- the questions they asked I don’t think were in the set interview questions rather questions the interviewers themselves were asking to take note of your knowledge. I wouldn’t say they were testing knowledge just seeing what you were interested in and how you communicated this.

Hope this helps 😊

My degrees are a bit strange because I studied all three sciences and quite a bit of geography. My MSc was more physics based but I guess I needed stronger physics in my BSc. I've been out of uni for 10 years now so its surprising that my work experience wasn't assessed more for my experience but I guess they need to have a set standard to follow for everyone.
The main thing I'm disappointed about is that I can't study duel Geography with a science e.g. biology. They only group the sciences or geography and history, which is strange to me because there is so much science in geography.
I'm really excited that I got an interview so quickly though!
