LAE sixth form + grades achieved

hey, i am trying to apply for different sixth forms and aim to apply for lae as well as the current school's sixth form i go to amongst others. i wanna do alevel english lit, history, philosphy and epq.

english lit - 9 (100% mashallah)
english lang - 9
history - 9
rs - 9
spanish - 8
chemistry - 7
maths - 7 (somehow lol i hate maths)
physics - 6
bio - 6 (smh)

pretty proud of these for first set of mocks, but realistically how likely am i to get given an offer? only because ik i did well for subjects i wanna apply for but i think they look at all grades overall, and some classmates of mine who r also applying got all 9s and 8s. this also applies to ncs and brampton manor.

Laet student here - Mashallah for the 100% in english lit. The subjects you have chosen, tend to not be as popular as other subjects (physics, economics etc) so with your grades its likely youll get an offer, but youll need to get better in the real thing to 100% secure a spot. LAET requires at least 6 in english and maths, and at least 5 7-9s overall, plus at least 7 in the subject you want to study.

Hi! LAE (Stratford) student here, I think that as you are applying for humanities you are fairly likely to get an offer, as they aren't as competitive as the sciences! Additionally, these will likely not be your predicted grades, as you have while to improve- ask your teachers if they could up your grade a bit just to make you feel more confident if needed! Good luck!!!!
PS: EPQ won't be decided based off of GCSE grades, at least at Stratford!

I have another batch of grades but they're GCSE Targets, idk if they're predicted ones but they're higher? Should I just apply with those?

hi! i dont know where the current application process is at for y11, but i assume w those grades ull defo be invited for the alignment consultation! from there itll depend ofc if they like u and offer u a place. for my year at least you didnt need to achieve them fully - so what will happen is that you will come to LAET on results day depending on your grade. the earlier your group is the more likely you will be accepted. so calculate the grade point average of your first 8 gcses, if its 8+ (or youre disadvantaged e.g fsm or care) youre group 1 at 9am, then 7.75+ for group 2, 7.5+ for group 3, and last group is anyone who meets entry reqs.

if you mean applying to uni and stuff, yes that all happens in y13! tho ofc ppl start preparing supercurriculars in y12

Basically they check / interview you to see if you meet share their views or something. They ask to bring a special item which you must talk about for around 2 minutes.

Wow that's so weird, so it can be anything? Around what time in the academic year do students do this? Is it like selective?

yeah it can be anything. It's usually around February to April. I've seen people bring trophies, certificates, Rubik's cubes and religious texts
