Hello,
I agree with everything said in the previous response. A Leicester Law degree is very well respected by employers worldwide, particularly because of our Canadian JD Pathways programme and French
Maîtrise programme. This means Leicester Law degrees are recognised and many of our alumni go on to work at magic circle firms around the world. We also have some Leicester-specific connections with law firms, particularly if you are interested in becoming a Solicitor. Employers particularly like how at Leicester students are taught about professional writing and teamwork skills which are essential for any career, whether legal or non-legal.
The actual Law degree is taught to a very high standard, which is reflective of the University's Gold award in the most recent Teaching Excellence Framework. As such, many of the textbooks we use are actually written by the lecturers who are delivering the content to us in lectures. We are therefore fortunate to have access to such industry experts, who among other things have helped in law commission inquiries.
When it comes to extracurricular activities at Leicester Law School, there is so much on offer. The Leicester Law Society is the largest society at the University and the second largest in the country, hosting a number of employment events in addition to those offered by the law school, as well as competitions, including booting, mock trials, negotiation, and client interviewing, to name just a few. We also have the Pro Bono society which includes a number of different projects. I personally am part of the Legal Advice Clinic offering free legal advice to members of the local community and other students. The clinic has a vast area of specialism including family, housing, wills and probate, business and contract to name just a few. Both these societies regularly win respectable awards.
If you have any further questions, queries or anything else about the University of Leicester, Leicester Law School, Leicester City or anything else please do let me know!
