Cambridge Architecture interview

Hi everyone. I recently received an invitation from Homerton college to attend an online interview for architecture. I am relatively happy to discuss my portfolio and aspects of my personal statement, but I struggle a lot with articulation under pressure and i’m very worried it will severely impact my interview. I had a mock interview in year 12 for which I scored very well on since it wasn’t subject specific. Is there any advice on how to prep for the interview in general, and how to alleviate my relentless anxiety about it ? Any help is very appreciated, even if it’s sharing your own interview experiences, thanks

Hi! I don’t have much advice to offer, but I was hoping to ask how you’re preparing for the interview, if you don’t mind. I have mine coming up soon (for Clare College), and since no one I know is applying for architecture—let alone at Cambridge—I thought it might be helpful to talk to someone in a similar position! What kinds of things are you highlighting in your portfolio, and how are you approaching your preparation?

I’ve just been going over the topics I talked about in my personal statement, and familiarizing myself with some more broader questions/topics they might bring up. I’m so nervous, but talking to someone in a similar position is a little more reassuring ! Most of my portfolio is my A level work so I can just go over the commentary i’ve already prepared. I think having a clear idea of how you explored a topic, and why you composed the pieces the way you did would be important, as well as knowing the social context of any artists you’ve been inspired by. What sort of things are you going to be doing? Best of luck in your preparation!
