Student finance long residency

I have started uni in September for the first time through clearing, attending everyday but my situation with student finance is letting me down. It's regarding long residency evidence. I have been sending evidence by post and online to student finance since September but student finance keep asking for more. I have sent evidence from 2005 up to 2024. This time since sending more evidence, there has been no updates just still showing ineligible but when I contact I'm being told my evidence is in a queue and I should here by 24th December.

Hi Mira,

Is this on your account it shows that date for an update? Thanks, Jason

Hello Jason, thanks for your reply. My account is showing ineligible and I was asked for more evidence from April 2006. I sent a signed registration from my previous college from 2005 to 2007, an other evidence from 2008 onwards last week. My account is still showing ineligible and student finance teams are saying my evidence is in a queue to be looked at. This time is taking longer for an update on my online account and I'm already attending university since September. I was not expecting this and has settled in well at uni.

Hi Mira. I understand sorry. However, if you have been advised that we have received this evidence and been advised on the timescale for when this expected to be reviewed then we need to allow this time. I understand your frustration with this but for the type of evidence you have provided there is not an escalation route for this to be processed sooner. We would need to allow the time that you have been advised. I can only advise additionally for you to speak to your University to make them aware of this. Thanks, David

Hello Jason, no i was told this over the phone. My concern is I have sent more evidence last week starting from 2005. To be eligible it's asking to show proof of living in UK from april 2006 in which I proved evidence from 2005. I've been in the UK since August 2002. My online account is still showing as ineligible and this time the new evidence I sent last week still hasn't looked into.

Good morning, I started University in September and have been sending evidence for long residency . My evidence hasn't been accepted for 20 years so I applied for tuition fee only as my husband is British citizen and this has been approved. Since I'm a mum of 3 I decided to contact student finance again regarding receiving full support for student finance as I know I'm eligible as I have been in the UK since 2002. I attended secondary school and received my N.I number. I'm now in my 30s almost 40 years and have lived in UK since 14 years. I have now been told that since my husband and I have been living together for the past 3 years that I would be eligible for full support. Please is this information correct?
Hi there, what is the status that both your husband and yourself currently hold? (as confirmed by the Home Office). Thanks, Stephen.

Hello Steven, I just wanted to confirm if I am eligible for full support since my husband is UK national and we both have been residents for past 3 years please. At the moment I'm only getting tuition fee only but was told I would be eligible for full support.
Hi there, I appreciate that, however under the residency criteria there are 2 routes.
You have most likely currently been awarded the Non-UK National Family Member of a UK National Fee Only at present.

Eligibility:

be the family member of a UK National

have been resident in the UK and Islands for 3 years prior to the first day of the first academic year of the course

have a valid status in the UK.

However, for the other Non-UK National Family Member of a UK National - Home Funding

This is for Rest of the World nationals, hence why I asked what your nationality is, if you are from the EU then you would not be eligible to apply as this is only available for rest of the world students. Thanks, Stephen.

Hello Stephen, Thanks for your message. I am not from EU but from the Caribbean. Would I be entitled? Its been very tough for me regarding student finance. At the moment I've only been given tuition fee only which is still currently blocked.
Hi again. As you would be classed under the Rest of the World, there is a criteria for this.
Non-UK National Family Member of a UK National - Home Funding The category below applies to new students only.

For to be eligible for full funding the UK National and the family member must have been:

resident in the UK, Gibraltar, European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland for 3 years prior to the first day of the first academic year of the course, and

resident in - the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland at the end of the Brexit transition period on 31st December 2020 or; - resident in the UK at the end of the Brexit transition period on 31st December 2020 and were resident in the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland immediately before moving to the UK on or after 1st January 2018.

This criteria will need to be met for to be eligible for Home Student support. Thanks, Stephen.
