Student Finance knows I changed my name can I still use an old ID to apply?
Hi,
I’m applying for a new student loan a few years after completing my bachelors. I changed my name during that degree and informed student finance.
When applying this time I, again, needed to upload either a passport or a birth certificate, both of which are in the wrong name. I can’t replace my passport at the moment and have no idea if it’s even possible to get a new BC
My question is will the deed poll be attached to my student loan account for student finance to see that my passport/BC is just my old name or will I need to get in touch somehow and inform them again?

Hi there. If your name is different, we would need evidence to show this. When sending your ID document we would ask for a clear photocopy showing the change of name i.e Change of Name Deed or Marriage Certificate etc. This will then allow us to process this. Thanks, David
