Rimworld is a bit like the Sims but grittier. Substantial learning curve. Can be frustrating but still fun.

Sims are nice to play in that genre. That is what people told me, I have really no idea about this gaming series. I rather like to play Jump and Runs.

The only simulation game I ever played were Sim City. That is the one I can personally recommend. If it exists on steam, buy this.

I'm not sure Rimworld would be strictly classed as a simulation game in the way that the OP means, but it is certainly an excellent game on any reading.

One of the difficulties with simulation games is that some of the more recent releases have been underwhelming. Cities Skylines 2 and Planet Coaster 2 have come under criticism in particular for being pretty poor sequels.

Fortunately you can pick up a lot of the older games for a pretty reasonable price. Planet Coaster is still very playable and has a lot of DLC, Planet Zoo is great, as are Two Point Hospital and Two Point Campus. Though actually, I think the best theme park simulator out there at the moment is Parkitect, so I'd give that a look if you haven't heard of it. If you want something a bit more gritty than the more shiny traditional simulators, both Manor Lords and Frostpunk 2 are recent releases that are worth a look.
