Thinking of doing weights straight after boxing would this be a good idea?

You should get advice from a boxing expert nearly your area. They can give you correct advice after seeing you.

Terrible idea, you muscle and more importantly nervous system would be fried.

Just do weight on an off day

Increasing your weight is - in my honest opinion - a bad idea in general, because the more weight you have, the slower you are in your movements in boxing. In the other hand your power for punches is gaining. It is a matter of your preferences.

Yeah, but be aware that the more muscles you have, the slower you are in movement. Have a closer look at the fights in different weight classes and compare. You would get what I am talking about then.
