A levels for cosmology or astronomy?

I wanna do astronomy or cosmology for when I go into uni, cos I’m interested in the subject, but I’m nervous on the A Levels that i should use, cos I know I should pick maths and physics, but idk what to pick for my 3rd option.

I searched it up and Chemistry came up as a good 3rd A-Level for Astronomy.

You need to look at the 'required' and any 'preferred' subjects at a range of different Universities for the subject you want to study - they will all be slightly different. Physics and Maths will usually be essential - FM and/or Chemistry would be sensible additions, and these would leave other courses open to you if you later change your mind.

Examples :
Astrophysics (BSc) - Study - Cardiff University
Astrophysics, BSc (Hons) Degree Course UK - UCLan
Physics with Particle Physics and Cosmology BSc - University of Birmingham
Astronomy, Space Science and Astrophysics - BSc (Hons) - Undergraduate courses - University of Kent
BSc Earth and Planetary Sciences (2025 entry) | The University of Manchester

Further maths can be preferred for this degree area as it’s very maths based.
Chemistry can be a great option, or potentially a different science-y subject like geography or biology if those interest you more (astrobiology was a huge interest of mine a year or so ago lol).
Other than further maths in some cases, most subjects will be viewed equally by unis generally- although do check specific course requirements ofc! But the main thing is to pick a subject which will play to your strengths and that you think you will enjoy 🙂

I chose to do chemistry as I think that cosmology will include stuff with elemental features with gases, as in gcse rn in space science gases and stuff appear in things like the sun cycle
