Help understanding my part 1 architecture degree for entry requirements for part 2.

Hi got my degree from my university for part 1 mArch hons architecture this year, my degree certificate says ordinary degree with merit achieved the 360 points. When I look at perhaps studying my part 2 at another university a lot are saying 2:1 but i dont know if mine is a 2:1 ? I've done the 3 years at uni and am currently doing 1 year placement. Any help much appreciated.

Dundee

Ask Dundee for a degree transcript so that you can see a breakdown of your marks:

Do you still have a copy of your course handbook so that you can see what the grade boundaries were?

I did also find this where you key in your grades - it only comes up 4 or 5 year, architecture part 1 is 3 years followed by placement so I keyed in my year 2 results into year 3 and year 3 results into year 4 and it came out a 2:1

Can you email your former tutor to confirm/clarify it for you?

yes i think i will thanks
An ordinary degree means one that doesn’t have honours. Ie no classification.

If you’re applying to non-Scottish universities with a Scottish ordinary degree for your part 1 then contact the universities to check that a merit meets their requirements.

I'm confused because the course is 6 years in total 3 years at uni which i have completed and gained my part one which an ordinary degree for that part then a year in practice then 2 years back at uni for part 2 hons. But when I look to apply to do my part 2 at other unis they are saying minimum 2:1, The part one is just an ordinary degree so i dont understand. My certificate says with merit - i know architecture is a bit different to other degrees

Scottish degrees are slightly different to rUK degrees. A 3 year ordinary degree doesn’t get honours so no classification.
If you contact the universities you’re interested in studying part 2 at and send them details of your degree they should be able to specify whether a merit would be accepted. My guess would be that they’ll be more than happy with that. But it’s at their discretion what award result they want from an ordinary degree part 1.
