What are the other options with a PGCE?

Hi there,

I wonder if you would be able to provide some advice.
I started a PGCE secondary, got 4 months in and had a burnout. I have taken time off from the PGCE and have been doing a master's degree and have been a casual teacher at university.
I have the option to complete the PGCE but I have to go back in January 2025, which means delaying completing my master's degree.
I don't want to continue in teaching and I won't be getting the QTS, do you think it is worth completing the PGCE for other job options that could be available with it?
Is it a qualification worth having as a fall-back option or for opening other doors other than teaching or in education?

Many thanks!

If you don’t want to continue in teaching i don’t see the point in getting a PGCE over a masters. PGCE is very specific to teaching/tutoring/education - so outside of that i don’t see how it would help you more than a masters. A masters is a broad variety and can allow you to stand out from competition… i don’t know what you want to do now, but if you don’t want to do teaching there really is no point in doing a PGCE!?
