Imperial Mechanical Engineering

Is it worth applying for Mechanical Engineering Imperial if I have predicted 2 A* and 2 A. I have A in FM and A* in Maths and Physics. Will my application stand a chance to be considered for interview if I score good in ESAT.

Hey @FurryCat,

Your predicted grades of AAA (with A* in Maths and Physics) meet Imperial's requirements for Mechanical Engineering, although the A in Further Maths might make your application slightly less competitive. However, a strong performance in the Engineering Admissions Test (ESAT) could significantly boost your chances, as Imperial values this test highly. To strengthen your application, focus on showcasing your passion for engineering through a compelling personal statement, highlighting projects, extracurriculars, and relevant experiences. A strong reference letter and evidence of going beyond the syllabus can also help. If you’re confident in excelling in the ESAT, it’s worth applying.

@FurryCat this person that just replied has literally copy and pasted from chat gpt. You can see it in the first line where it has a dodgy A within the listed grades. But A*A*AA is definitely good enough. Just remember to do all past ENGAA papers and maybe some TMUA paper 1’s to brush up on maths a little more. If you want to go further, there’s a site called Iwanttostudyengineering. Its a question bank made by Cambridge engineering students of interview questions you could be asked. Similarly Isaac Physics is good and so is a book called Professor Povey’s Perplexing Problems which has a free pdf version online. If you dont try those for the ESAT try them in order to prep for interview.
