EPQ does it have to be a debate?

My EPQ is very biological and psychological. I’m focusing on epigenetic modifications (specifically DNA methylation and childhood abuse) however i have no idea how to bring in a debate or argument, because it is highly factual and more an explanation for how this takes place/affects outcomes. If someone could help give some ideas of how it could bring in a debate and further elaborate with my opinion it would help a lot thankyou.

From my understanding, to access the top grades you need to discuss your topic. It doesn't have to be a debate per say but its best if you phrase your title as a question so that in your conclusion you can say yes or no. For example you could say 'how can epigenetic modifications impact the probablity of child abuse?" in this way you can argue to the question rather than just stating facts.

Another way you could approach it is by looking at the ethics, therefore you can state all the facts and then do an 'evaluation' after which allows you some aspect of debate if you cant work it into the bulk of your essay!
