AUB vs BU for Film & TV Production?

Hi all,
I am on a gap year at the moment and looking to study BA Film and TV Production at Bournemouth but have also just come across AUB, and not sure which to pick for specifically the production side of things (as I'm not too interested in theory or essays). I went to the BU open day and was impressed by their kit and general vibe, but have heard either really good or really bad things about both on here.

Any advice or anecdotes from either?

I've also visited Ravensbourne which I've equally heard mixed things about, + the entry requirements are much lower for the course I would take and I would likely commute (as I'm currently in Brighton) so worried I wouldn't get that "full" uni experience I'm looking for after this gap year. But they also have more specific courses for editing, which is what I'm looking to do long-term, so any advice about that too would be greatly appreciated.

There’s an AUB open day next Saturday. Why not visit and see for yourself?

Daughter also applying for film (prod not theory), also Brighton. She visited AUB and was impressed with the course & facilities but I think she felt that Bournemouth itself had not much going on in comparison to Brighton. We did discover that if you’re at AUB you can make use of the students Union at Uni of so she felt that would make AUB more fun.

She’s applied to Edinburgh, Leeds Beckett & Salford too. Still considering last 2 spots.

Hi @OliverJT and @KatAllen27
I'm a current student at the Uni of Brighton and thought I could tell you about our post production heavy media courses!

Our Media Production course goes through the standard forms of media and how to create them, of course that includes pre production however there a core modules and lots of opportunities to focus on post production. In your final year you get to specialise into an area of production after getting to experience a bit of everything.

I though I'd also mention our new Content Creation course! This course focuses more on content creation for social media, learning how to advertise and engage audiences.

The facilities here at Brighton are pretty great as well! Currently we use Black Magic and Sony 4K Cameras, Sound Devices audio equipment and hold a large array of professional lighting and grip equipment perfect for any type of video production!
In terms of post production, our Apple Mac labs have industry standard software for visual/sound editing and screenwriting. Including Adobe Creative Suite, Pro Tools, Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve and Final Draft. We are an Avid authorised training centre for Media Composer and Pro Tools (the industries preferred editing platform).

@KatAllen27 Our Student Union is amazing in my opinion and any student can access!
We have tons of societies any student can join for free and can also book some of our student specific venues such as The Venue ! The BSU also offers lots of supports for students

I hope this information helps both of you!

For film courses if you want to work in the industry look at CILECT member film schools and those with Arri Certification https://www.arri.com/en/learn-help/arri-academy/arri-certified-film-school-program
Ideally you'd want a course that has both
