Iam in the process of applying for a engineering masters degree in university of liverpool . I got a 2:1 in my second yr predicted a 2:1 for my last yr . However they are asking for referees for references and i don’t have anyone neither close to anyone to ask them to be my referee . Will i get rejected if i apply for the master without a referee

Are they not just asking for an academic reference? Can you ask your personal tutor?

You don’t need to be close to them. Just arrange a meeting to outline what you are applying to and why. They’ll be very used to this.

Are there any academic staff that you have a better relationship with?
An academic reference isn’t going to talk about personal gripes.
