Is there a danger that you might postpone it for a decade, due to other commitments? It took JK Rowling 5 years to finish her first Harry Potter novel, and another year to get it published. I personally just cannot get into reading the Harry Potter books, and l fail to see what people see in them. I laid down my ego and tried to read the first one, and it was just amateurish fantasy. Having said that, l read The Hobbit when l was 10, and The Lord of the Rings immediately after that. Plus l read the Fighting Fantasy and Lone Wolf gamebooks prior to those. So you may see why l disliked Harry Potter, because the style of writing was well below that of the other books l mentioned. The Fighting Fantasy and Lone Wolf books were also extremely successful globally in the 1980s and early 1990s, before slowly fading in popularity, due to the rise of consoles and PC gaming within the same genre.

Ive been wanting to publish a book for years.
I was gonna write a ser of 3 books (like with lord of the rings and harry potter in that there are several).
Ive written the first and second book. And written a synopsis for the first. And started the 3rd book. I got my arse in gear a bit this year. But aim to see about getting published in 2025.
I havent read lord of the rings (although ive always threatened to). Never got into harry potter though.

I assume you have watched the LOTR movies at least? The are about 2/3rds true to the book, and the other third has either been changed or removed altogether. Though some of the scenes only gloss over certain chapters, so you could argue that only one half of the films collectively are true to the book.
