Support Applications

Hi,

SFE have asked my partner to fill out a ‘Declaration of Marriage’ form and a ‘PFF2’. A bit of a back story, I met my partner in March 2023, we are not married therefore we are classed as ‘single/cohabitants’ in the eyes of the law. For a brief period in 2023 and into 2024 we did not live together (partner was on industry placement). In June 2023 I found out I was pregnant with his baby, partner then came to live with me in the latter part of 2024. We then claimed UC as a joint application to which we were not entitled to much, if anything, due to my employment and his SF. I am now no longer employed as I am due to start my nursing degree in January. Obviously when my partner applied for SFE he put single, as there was nothing about ‘cohabitation’ or ‘living with partner.’

Now about these forms. Why have they asked for a marriage declaration and this PFF2? They have asked for my financial income for 22/23 which will look like I earned a lot, but I didn’t know my partner in this financial year. Secondly I am now unemployed so how am I, as an upcoming student myself, supposed to fill in the PFF2? There are no options for me to declare I am a student with a full SFE application myself. I can enrol onto my course on 09/12.

Side note SFE have not asked me to get my partner to fill out a PFF2 for me. We are both 30 so classed as mature students.

Once you have submitted the PFF2 form you can then submit a CYI form to declare a change in income with your forecast income for a more recent tax year.

Hi there,

Is this for the 2024/25 academic year? You would still need to complete the PFF2 for as you live together now however if your household income will drop by 15% or more in the current tax year you can also submit a Current Year Income form.

Thanks, Drew
