The Student Room Group

Which uni should I choose?

I have two unconditional offers at university of Roehampton and Canterbury Christ church university. I’m f21.

There are a few things I am looking at: cost, student life, accommodation, course, opportunity

Roehampton will be a lot more expensive for a smaller room with en suite (195 a week). Whereas Canterbury would be 155 with a big en suite.
I have never been to Roehampton before but visit Canterbury a lot as my boyfriend lives half an hour away.
Cost of living is expensive in London, Canterbury is cheaper
The Roehampton course is more mathematics focussed whereas Canterbury is biology focussed. The courses are zoology for Roehampton and animal science for Canterbury. I am very weak at mathematics and would prefer more biology.
The opportunity afterwards would probably be better in London. Canterbury does have connections too but London will always have better connections.
I wondered what Roehampton university and Canterbury Christ church is like if anyone has visited or attended either university? What is the campus like? Etc.

Hi,

That is a tricky one, deciding which uni to go to.

From your post, I think cost-wise, you have already done some serious thinking!

You know the city, of course, so here is a page about the campus which can give you an idea of the type of campus we have:

We hope you choose us! But wherever you decide, pick the place you will feel most at home 🙂

Thank you Liz! After some research and discussions, I have decided to go to CCCU and I can’t wait to start in September! I’ve accepted my offer now and I’m so excited!!!
What would the best accommodation choices be for someone looking for an en suite?

🎉 That's great news! We look forward to welcoming you 🎉

For accommodation:

I would recommend either Petros Court, near the library, or Lanfranc House, in the city (outside the walls, not far from Sainsbury's). Accommodation applications are likely to open around the 1st of March.

Here are the links to the pages:

Petros:

Lanfranc:

If you have any questions or problems, do get in touch with the team (details found here) 🙂

(excited for you!)

Hi! Congratulations!! How long did it roughly take for University of Roehampton to get back to you?

Hii Thank you!! Roehampton gave my a conditional offer first as I had to show proof of my results. Conditional offer came through about two days after submitting application. Then after proofing my results, I sent a follow up email just in case they didn’t receive them - probably about a week and a half for unconditional.
