Gap year university applications + UCAS

hi everyone, I am currently a year 13 student who is planning on taking a gap year, but am applying for a deferred entry this cycle. I'm applying to biomedicine and pharmacology this year for a deferred entry, but would ultimately like to do medicine.
I wanted to take the gap year to reapply for medicine for 2026 entry, but I was told that if I accept an offer from the university i apply to this cycle, i couldn't apply again next year.
hoping someone can clear this up, and thanks for reading.

You can still decline any deferred place next autumn and reapply to 5 new Uni choices with your achieved grades for 2026 Medicine etc. You just can't hold onto that place AND reapply.
