Hi everyone! 🙂

I have recently graduated in a Fashion Promotion and Marketing degree at the university and currently working within the digital team at the university too. Being an offer holder is great! I remember visiting various universities to really make the best decision for myself and offer holder days were the deciding factors for me. You really get to get a feel for the university and the course, the campus and the city it's in. It's so important to get the most out of these events, get involved in activities and ask plenty of questions.

If you have any questions about the course I studied or any creative courses, what university life is like or any advice please let me know 🙂

Best wishes, ^Zac

Hi @Freya mniven,

Congratulations on the offer! I stayed in Roeburn Halls during my first year at the university, then I went into private accommodation during my second year with flat mates I made at Roeburn. Then during my placement and final year, I lived in a flat with my friends from year 1. Staying at the university accommodation was super simple and is something I would recommend to all first years.

We are running a 'Ask Us Anything-Accommodation' event on 22 April 6-7pm. Find out more here: Ask us Anything: Accommodation

What you'll get out of our Accommodation "Ask us Anything" session

Chat to our expert team about university accommodation

Ask any questions you have about accommodation at university

You can virtually explore our campuses, the local areas around our campuses and our accommodation options in our Virtual Experience Platform

If you have any questions about university life, accommodation and more please let me know.

Hope this helps,
^Zac 🙂

Hey there!

So my best advice for studying medicine would be to enjoy your summer first of all. You don’t need to worry about trying to study ahead as this will all be explained when you start and everyone will start from the same point.
If you did want to get ahead, my best advice would be to look at what study methods work best for you so that you are not trying to work this out once you start.

I can see that one of my colleagues has already given you some advice on accommodation. This is definitely worth having a think about what you want (for example ensuite versus shared). Having a look at our webpage for accommodation is a great way to get a feel for what they look like or by coming to one of offer holder days which is coming up at the end of April.

I hope everything goes well for you!

Hey! 👋

I'm Sophia and I'm just about to finish my second year of university at the University of Central Lancashire! As many new students are preparing for their next step into education, I thought I'd share a bit of insight into why I choose my university and course, alongside an average day for me. 😊

When I first visited UCLan, I loved the campus, especially the modern appearance of the student centre! While it's a city campus, everything is based around one area, so it's super easy to navigate around, alongside still having the benefits of the nearby town the explore. I also appreciated the care put into student experience, with the priority being to make sure you are highly employable in your chosen field by offering practical experiences, rather than sticking to theory. 🗣️

I choose to study business and management, which I was initially unsure about but after speaking with the head of the business school, all my questions were answered and I was confident I made the right choice. The course has presented many opportunities to practically grow skills needed for management. Additionally, the university has a dedicated department for entrepreneurial support open to any student (on any course) at the university. The support has offered me advice, funding and confidence to grow my business, which started from a simple idea. 💭

Here is a bit more insight into my daily routine as a full time student:

6:00 am - Wake UpI I give myself an hour to get ready, eat and walk to my local train station as I travel in to university. I always make sure to bring some lunch, my laptop, pen, notebook, water and my university ID.

7:20 am - Train ride| The train ride is only 20-30 minutes, therefore I dedicate this time to getting myself prepared for the day. Either checking my emails, planning my schedule or deciding what assignments to work on within my free time.

8:40 am - Walk to ClassI The train station is nearby so it only takes 10-15 minutes to walk to my 9am lecture! I make sure the night before that I have checked where my classes are for the day so there is no delay.

9:00 am - First Lecture | I have an hour lecture, where I make notes based on the content which I can follow along on the app "blackboard", which is extremely useful to get some extra notes.

10:00 am - Lunch| I spent this time at the student centre, or within the library. If I'm in the student centre, I dedicate some time to completing assignments then meet up with some friends to eat lunch! Sometimes I'll head to the library instead if I want to solely focus on my work in a quiet environment.

1:00 pm - Second Class/Workshop| This second class normally consists of building upon the first. Sometimes we may do activities where we can apply the information we have just learnt.

3:00 pm - Second lecture | This focuses upon a different model, therefore breaking up my learning throughout the day which created a nice change.

4:00 pm - Train Station | From here, I'll head back to the train station and carry on the rest of my day. This includes going to the gym and relaxing at home!

Each day is different, I have some days which are much quieter than this with only one class however this is entirely depends on your course! This is considered a busier day for me so it's an excellent example of what to expect.

If your planning to visit the University of Central Lancashire soon for our offer holder day, I have some recommendations! Make sure to write down your questions so you don't forget them on the day as there is lots going on, this way you can ensure to ask tutors your burning questions about the course or current students about their experiences. I also highly recommend planning your day, as there might be some taster sessions you really want to attend, or even campus tour. If your looking to live on campus, I also recommend having a tour of the accommodations we offer.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
😊-Sophia (Business and Management)

Hey there everyone!

My name is Siobhan and I'm a third-year physiotherapy student at the University of Central Lancashire! As summer is approaching, you might all start to prep for uni and one thing you might be worried about is making friends when you start. I want you assure you that you are not the only one who is thinking this, and I remember when I was in your shoes 😊 Here’s a few things that might help you make new friends:

Freshers: I would definitely take full advantage of fresher's week as it's a great place to connect with new people through loads of different things like food, sport and social events! Also, there are loads of freebies, which is always a bonus. Here’s the link to the 2025 freshers - https://www.lancashire.ac.uk/study/academic-calendar

Facebook groups: The uni has different Facebook groups you can be a part of and find people from your course! There are always regular posts on there about the events going on and what to prepare for when starting uni 😊 Here’s the link to that if you’re interested - https://www.lancashire.ac.uk/welcome/facebook-groups

Societies: Have a look at the SU and see if there are any societies that spark your interest. The best thing is that you don’t have to join straight away and can don’t have to be committed to it so there’s no pressure on doing this straight away. Also, if you don’t see a society that you want to join then you can always speak to the SU about starting your own!!! Here is the link to the SU - https://www.uclansu.co.uk/

Sports clubs: If you’re into a particular sport or want to try a new one out then this is a great way to build on your skills and meet people with the same motivations and interest! Sports clubs and societies also do socials typically once a week, so it's not all hard training don’t worry. You can find info about this on the SU too.

Accommodation: This is another great way to connect to new people. I met some of my closest friends in my accommodation and there are always events that go on with Uni accommodations which gets you out there more!

Course friends: You can also connect with people on your course and build connections that way. I again, have met some of my closest friends this way. There is no pressure to do this through and there are so many other ways listed above 😊

Hope this helps and eases your mind a little bit. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself straight away and enjoy your first couple weeks, hopefully everything will fall into place. Let me know if you have any questions.

Siobhan (Student Ambassador for the University of Central Lancashire)
