Loneliness

Hello everyone,
Sorry for posting this but I really need some advice and reassurance.
So basically I am 17 years old, in year 12 and have 0 close friends. I was pulled out of school at the end of year 8 due to reasons like bullying and no support from the school. I was then home educated and have recently joined a local sixth form college and whilst I have managed to make a few friendly acquaintaces there I still don't have any best friends because everyone there has known each other already for a long time, I am the outsider and it is a tiny sixth form (just 136 students!).
I really need some advice here in the comments and if you are a UK teenager in a very similar situation to me (or have a son/daughter in a similar situation) then please let me know in the comments because I need to know that I am not along.

hi, your not alone whatsoever ! i’m in a similar position after dropping out of sixth form due to my mental health and now doing an online course so find myself spending all my time alone and finding it really difficult without having any close friends. I’m here to talk to you if you need, would love an online friend

I'm studying History, Politics and English Literature. Are you in a similar situation to the one I've described?

Idk if you've been doing so already but try your best to not look for a best friend. Try not to go looking around wondering who and who isn't best friend material. I know in some cases it's also the other way round, were the person keeps wondering if they are deserving or best suited to be another person's bff or even friend at all. Be confident in yourself and open minded to those around you, who's knows, maybe the person you barely ever talk to could be your potential bff or at least close friend.
Or something like that. Hope I made sense
