Mine is still under department review. I’m expecting some updates by the end of the week. Have you heard of anyone who applied to this MPhil and had their portal status change, even if it was for a rejection?

I've only looked briefly on GradCafe and in the main TSR thread for Cambridge PG 2025, but have not seen anyone's portal status change. I expect this is because there aren't interviews for this course so they prioritise filtering through applications for courses they do need to interview for, hence why other courses have had portal status changes.

So on Gradcafe a person just posted yesterday that they were accepted by POLIS for a PhD. Usually PhD decisions come later than MPhil decisions, but maybe this year's different.

I emailed in the department last week. They replied- Your application is still under review within the department, following our standard procedure. Once the department reaches a decision, it will be sent to the Degree Committee for approval and then to the Postgraduate Admissions Office (PAO) for final confirmation. We appreciate your understanding, and you can expect an update by early February.”

That person on grad Cafe could have been applying for another political science PhD, not necessarily POLIS.

POLIS is Cambridge's Department of Politics and International Studies and no other Cambridge department offers a PhD in political science. So that's not an option.

Nice, so we should hear back in one or two weeks then.

My apologies, yes you're right. I guess this year is an exception then.

wonder if we should be expecting people's portals to move to 'decision pending' soon?

Yes, I agree. If they email like this, people should be seeing some changes by now. I dont know how is this working. I am just checking portal 100 times in a day.

"You should expect an update early February" suggests that we might see a change on the portal then, since this would be an update. Anyways, tomorrow is the last day of January. Good luck everyone!

Not necessarily sure it’s a good thing. I got it this time last year before I was rejected. I feel like it’s means your application standouts in a good or bad way.

How much time they usually take to give a final decision after decision pending status?
