Seeking Advice for Academic Comeback in Engineering

Hello everyone,

Three years ago, I started studying computer engineering at university but dropped out in the second semester. My main problem is that I'm not a good and effective learner. During lectures, I often lost concentration, and my strategy was to at least copy everything written on the board. Additionally, I was slow at completing my homework and struggled to finish tasks on time. I believe this is the reason that despite my high motivation and lots of time studying as hard as I could, I didn’t achieve a good understanding of the material, which resulted in below-average grades.

I have 11 months until I return to university, and I want to work on my skills, become a better student, and make an academic comeback. I have learned that learning is a skill you can improve, similar to getting stronger at the gym. The problem is, I don't know where to start. I would love to hear from those who have faced similar challenges and successfully turned things around. What strategies and resources helped you improve your learning and achieve better grades? Should I also focus on improving speed writing, speed-reading, and longer concentration abilities?

Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!
