Univeristy predicted grades

I am look to apply for the following university and courses :
Bath - Maths, data science and Statistics
York - Maths and Computer science
Exeter - Maths and Computer science
Cardiff - Maths, Operational research and Statistics
Reading - Maths and Computer Science

Can anyone let me if further maths A level is required for any of these courses, and if not will it lower my requirements to get in if I am currently doing further maths A level. Mention the predicted grade requirements if not please.

Thank you.
Do their respective webpages not confirm whether FM is required, preferred or not mentioned at all?

It’s only bath that has mentioned further maths isn’t required, the others only mentioned Maths is required. My main concern is whether me doing it will lower any of their requirements, and to what they will be lower to.

They would usually state that clearly like “A*AA including Maths or AAA with Maths and Further Maths”. If they don’t mention it at all then they most likely don’t care or offer any grade reduction.
You can always email them to check.

Hiya!

You've probably already read it in the course page, but as described for 2025 entry,

"AAB-BBB. Must include Maths.
Extended/International Project Qualification: Applicants with grade A in the EPQ/IPQ will typically receive an offer one grade lower than the standard offer. Please note that any subject specific requirements must still be met."

The university is generally quite transparent with their course pages - so no need for Further Maths, but whilst a grade A in EPQ might get you a lowered offer, doing Further Maths unfortunately does not. That being said, as someone who's done an EPQ, its 100% worth it, and worth half an A-Level so it does take less work than a full A-Level.

Hope that helps! Let me know if I can help answer anything else about the university or course

Hi there @MSBE337 ,

It is great to hear that you are considering studying BSc Maths with Computer Science at Reading! 🙂 While this may be subject to change, the typical offer is ABC with an A in Maths at A-Level. It is also worth noting (also subject to change) that if you do an EPQ, Reading will accept you with one grade lower, including a B in Maths at A-Level. This information can be found more in-depth here under 'Entry Requirements' and 'Typical Offer'.

From this information, it doesn't specify that Further Maths is a requirement, but it may be worth reaching out to admissions for further info or to clarify this. The contact details for our admissions team can be found here! They will be more than happy to assist you withy any questions you may have 🙂

I hope this helps! Do let us know if you have anymore questions about student life at Reading!

All the best,
Millie 🙂
