too specific in vet med

heyy, is it possible for your personal statement to be too specific? i’m in y12 and am building my personal statement atm but ny interest is mainly exotic medicine so lots of my work ex/supercurriculars are focused on exotics, should i try to make it more broad?

It depends on the courses you applied to, if you applied to a specific course at 5 different unis or very similar courses then being specific could help you as the uni would see that you have a clear motivation and goal that you are working towards.

Your vetmed degree won’t be focused on exotics so while it’s fine for that to be your main interest and possible eventual goal you need to make it clear in your PS that you understand the breadth of a vetmed degree and demonstrate that you are interested and motivated enough to study with all types of animals required. Seeking out some broader experience would help demonstrate that.
Hi, It's always fantastic to see your passion and how your interests connect to your chosen area of study in your personal statement. Some of your work experience will definitely be transferable, so why not highlight some of the key skills you’ve gained and explain how they’ll support you in your future studies.
Wishing you the best of luck with your application!
