No, most people mean cute when they say cute. And yeah if he refers to you as "my cute girl" there's a very good chance he's into you.

Cute is ok for a girl, usually meaning attractive in a petite, girl next-door sort of way.

If he says your cute, thats usually a term of endearment. Meaning in a friendship type of way the majority of the time. But over use of the word all the time can mean a little bit more. If he keeps saying your cute, then he might be testing the water a little bit to see how you react to him. Him constantly telling you you cute most days might be his way of saying he likes you, but wont go over the word cute because hes really wanting to really say ' I like you, do you find me 'cute' too?'.
Its probably a one off and just a simple friendly gesture tbh. But look out for other compliments as well 🙂
