Good afternoon to you, not so much to me.
Long story short - I had applied to Student Finance back in September, it was a late submission, but nonetheless I expected to get accepted and start receiving my maintenance loan and get my tuition fees paid in by now. Few days ago I received a letter telling me I got approved for both tuition fees and maintenance loan and that SFE will be confirming all details with my university, after which I should shortly be receiving the maintenance loan. Today I checked my SFE account and my whole application (*fully approved and ready to confirm all details) went back to "Processing Application". This is because they changed my course. When applying, I couldn't find my specific course in the list, so I selected the course I originally applied to when I applied to the university, Modern Foreign Languages. Now, because during online registration I had to pick a specific language to study I selected Spanish, my course on SFE changed to BA Spanish FT. Is this the only reason MY WHOLE APPLICATION needs to reset?? I spoke to Student Finance on their website and apparently I am due a "review date" on the 7th of January........ Review date for what? None of my circumstances have changed, it's just the course (same tuition fees, same department, same university) that changed. What do I do until the 7th of January? I was already struggling surviving without my maintenance loan, now I have to try and survive Christmas with no money to my name for changing the name of my course?
Any advice?

Hi there,

Can you please check your payment schedule, are the payments still showing?

Normally, if your application was approved before the payments will still be there even if your application status has changed.

Thanks, Graeme

How long does it usually take to confirm all details?
Hi Carlo,

Is this the first time you're taking a loan from us?

Thanks,
Claire

Hi Carlo. When you say it was approved again is that for the correct new course details? Has it now been fully approved again? Thanks, David

Hello! Yes, the application has been fully approved again, this time with the correct course details. It has been approved on Wednesday. Does that mean that I will get an update by this Wednesday on whether or not all my details are confirmed? Thank you

Hi Carlo, are you able to see your letter of entitlement via your 'correspondence' section of your account? Thanks, Jason

Hi Carlo.

Now that your application shows as approved are you able to view your payment status on your online account?. What does the status say?

Thanks, Drew

I just checked now. It says "blocked". Should I contact an assistant on the live chat?

Hi Carlo,

If you're taking a loan for the first time, we need to do a check with The Department of Works and Pensions(DWP) to make sure your National Insurance Number is valid. This process is done on a Wednesday and comes back the following Wednesday. If valid when returned and we have your registration confirmed by the university, then the payment will be unblocked and take up to 3 working days to reach your bank account.

Thanks,
Claire

Hi CarloCristian,

The NINO team take around 5 working days to process that evidence. Once they are able to verify your National Insurance Number, payments will be unblocked. Please monitor your account, as you will see that the payment status will change.

Thanks, Clare
