Cheltenham's Ladies College Examination

Hi guys, I'm thinking of applying to Cheltenham's Ladies College for the year beginning 2026 and currently I'm in Year 10.
I was hoping if someone can tell me what the entrance exams are like and roughly what level of education should be good. Is just knowing the GCSE syllabus good enough or do I need to know more?
On a scale of 1-10 how hard are the examinations? (A ten being as hard as my actual GCSE's).
Thank You

Hi, I don't go to CLC but I go to another independent school as a year 10. CLC is infact a very competitive school academically. They only accept 45 external students every year into their sixth form, both boarding and day. Your GCSES should be your education level and normally whatever subjects you would like to take for your a-levels make sure you are aiming for high grades. For the actual exams you need to first submit an essay, then sit two optional sixth form exams, one verbal reasoning and an adaptive test then have an interview then finally a group task. The exams would be hard (so an 8) as, the schools states that they only accept highly academic students, schools such as CLC dont expect the bare minimum, they have high standards and it is also evident with other top independent schools in England. Knowing the GCSE syllabus is amazing but they look for students that go above an beyond, so you can maybe use this an oppourtunity to look for Academic extracurriculars. For your interview they would most likely be asking about your chosen subjects, yourself but also your experiences as your current school. When it comes to your GCSES, aim for the highest you can in your mocks, good mock results can set a good foundation for your actual exams.

I am also considering to apply to CLC but I probably won't. Feel free to PM for more info 🙂
