Children nursing uni life

Hello everyone! So I was just doing research, and I wanted to ask anyone who does nursing, especially in paediatrics, how many days you guys are in university. I want to go Uni of Surrey or City London uni or Kingston uni, but im not sure how many days we need to be in usually.
It is a bit complicated, but I go to dance classes every Wednesday in Sutton, and I don't want to change location or go someplace elseee i want to be able to travel and go there but im scared my timetable may clash.
So i wanted to ask how many days nursing students go into the university for lectures.

Thank you!

You could email the nursing departments at the unis and ask for a copy of this year's timetable to give you an idea (but they could change next year). Bear in mind that you will be on placements for large chunks of your course and you will have to adhere to the shifts you are given.

did they get back to you???
nursing is a very time consuming course. even if you aren’t in lectures that much it’s more so placements that will be in issue. you have to do placements which could be hours away from your accom/home, and you can do 12 hour shifts at basically any time. If you go in to nursing, you definitely cannot prioritise hobbies like dance unfortunately as it does strip away a lot of your social life and it’s very demanding

Hi,

I’m currently in my second year of children’s nursing at Wrexham University, and so far, I’ve found the course to be incredible! 🙂

At the university, you’ll be required to complete 2,300 hours of theory, along with an additional 2,300 hours of placement. This structure is consistent across all universities as it’s mandated by the NMC. Time really does fly by, especially during placements!

Nursing is a full-time course, and each university will have its own approach to timetabling during theory blocks. Similarly, placement areas will have their own rotas. Here at Wrexham University, my schedule consists of two days in person, two days online, and one day of directed study. However, this schedule can change as needed, and some weeks I may be in person the entire week or have all online sessions.

Unfortunately, nursing can be unpredictable in terms of timing, which can make it difficult to commit to a fixed routine. I do apologize if this may cause any challenges for you in maintaining any commitments, but it’s something that most universities will clarify during the interview process or before you start, as the course is quite demanding.

If you have any further questions or need more information, feel free to reach out! 🙂

You will absolutely love your time studying the degree no matter where you go. Make sure you jump at any opportunities that arise for you, big or small don’t miss them! You’ll be amazed at the amount of routes you can go down and you’ll find one for you. ☺️
