Firstly, I would say that you could have a look on social media and see if you can meet anybody this way. Quite often there will be groups on here for people who are on your course, or just at your uni in general and sometimes you can get chatting to people on here and make plans with them!

Like Holly said, joining a society is a great way to make friends. There will be so many people here and you will likely have things in common with them as you have the same interest (the society) so you might get along with people here too. The socials are fun too and it also just gets you out of your house doing something fun that you enjoy doing!

If you are living in halls, try and spend time in the social areas or organise things to do with your flatmates. This could be a night out or staying in - a games night, movie night etc. Or, you may meet others around the building in other social spaces which might be worth trying!

Make sure you are attending your classes at uni as you will meet people this way too. Try and ask if anyone wants to go out after uni, to the library together or just for a coffee as you might be surprised at how many people would want to do this and might just be too shy to ask!

If your student union puts events on too this is a great place to look for people to chat to. They quite often will put things on that all students can attend which are fun and you also get to meet a wide variety of people by doing this too!
