Student finance help

Hey, so i am 22, i dropped out of uni in my second year 2 years ago due to some mental health issues, however i never documented it.I'm planning on going back to uni hopefully next year and I know i need to pay for 1 year of my course. My question is would i need to pay for my first year or last year myself? I tried to look it up but couldnt find an answer.

Unfunded years always come at the start of a course - so you would need to fund tuition fees without a loan for your first year if you start a new degree from scratch. You'd still get a maintenance loan in first year - just no tuition fee loan.

If you're able to use your previous study to start from 2nd year of a new degree then you'd be funded for the duration of the new course.

Student finance usually allows an extra year or funding for extenuating circumstances. You should be able to get it again.

No but I'm assuming he has successfully completed the 1st year and dropped out of the 2nd year , therefore that means he would only need to start again from 2nd year so he is only one year extra used. It don't continue running , once you drop out , it stops from that year .

Basically OP will not need to repeat the first year therefore they allow 4 year , 3 years plus an extra. Example people change course etc . OP completed one year (That's 1 year of study ) dropped out 2nd year that's 2 years but when OP returns OP will start from 2nd year therefore only needed 2 years additional funding (OP case 3 years plus 1 year)

My advice, phone student finance and ask them. I know people who had 4 years funding who dropped out the same as you .

I understand how previous study rules work. I explained this in post#2

It’s not guaranteed that OP will be rejoining the same course in which case they will need to start from year 1.

You can request for extra funding, it’s call Compellling Personal Reasons(CPR). Write a cover letter explaining your health issues forcing you to withdraw. Professional evidence is required from your GP etc.
I went through the same thing and received extra funding.
