Alevel choices

Hey I’m in year 11 and need to make my alevel choices soon. I’m currently averaging 8s in most of my subjects. I think I want to do biology and geography alevel but I don’t know about my 3rd. I was thinking about BTEC sport as I have done it for gcse but I find it boring at times. My other option would be english but they only do the combined language and literature where I am going to. I find English interesting but don’t know what the step up to alevel would be like and I just can’t find anyone that has done this course.

If you enjoy English, do English joint or not but i dont recommend BTEC, especially if you have hoigh aspirations also check for grade requiments that you may need in the future even if its a career or course your unsure about its better to be safe

hi! i'm currently doing bio, geog and combined english and i'm having a great time.

i would recommend checking the exam board for english and if your school details the texts they do before you apply. i knew i didn't wanna do any more exams on shakespeare, for example, after gcse and my course allowed me to do that! if not, you can search up the general exam boards (seems to be between edexcel, aqa and ocr). im on aqa, and it's great! we're allowed all the texts with us for the exams (unlike gcse) and the content regarding themes, analysis, context etc that you learn is much more interesting than it was at gcse. we also have a module of creative writing and coursework too which i looooove!!

i don't know much about sports btec but some unis sometimes don't accept btecs so it might be worth checking around anywhere you might currently have your eye on (not even courses, just the unis themselves). however, it might complement bio a lot more since i assume you'd be visiting similar topics for the theory side.

if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. good luck on your subject choosing!
