medicine rejection

I just got a pre-interview rejection from st georges and I'm absolutely gutted.
but the reason they gave me made 0 sense..? they said i didn't meet their minimum requirements for their medicine program but I'm sure I do. they even sent me their ucat cut off for this year and my score was above that too
I'm really confused and upset since I'm also a widening participation applicant, can they reject me even though I meet all requirements?
ps: I've emailed and asked for further feedback too

Its possible there was a mistake and your widening participation bonus was not taken into account, the uni admissions are busy and they are humans that make errors. They will get back to you as soon as possible.
However, if you still are rejected, it is not the worst thing in the world, I would assume you applied to three other medicine courses at other uni's so you can rely on them.

Yeah they can still reject u if u meet the requirements. Did ur GCSEs meet the requirements? (People often overlook these) Their website says u need 5 subjects at grade 6+, could that be the problem? If not it's good that u emailed for feedback.

okay update I'm literally so stupid ☹️☹️☹️ i overlooked the fact that they want 5 gcses at grade 6 INCLUDING ALL 3 SCIENCES! I got a 5 in physics. that's totally on me but I'm so bummed because I literally would've got an interview otherwise. my ucat passed the cutoff! total bummer on my part

Ahhh, I'm sorry to hear that, it's very unlucky!
Do you have other uni choices, as in was St G your aspirational and you had other backups?

Dw u weren't being stupid, a lot of unis often don't make the GCSE requirements as clear as the A level ones. gl with ur other choices, hopefully u get an interview :smile:

st g was a bit of a safety? I have an interview for aberdeen and an offer from ncl pharmacy. currently waiting for kcl emdp and ncl med!

Best of luck, I can speak from experience when I say Aberdeen is a nice place, but it is very out in the countryside so you'd be mainly in rural hospitals apart from the royal infirmary during medical school.

All you need is one interview and one offer! These things happen and it’s important to just now move on and focus on different things and not let it get to you.
