Adult nursing with previous study

Hi

just a question really: i have previously studied three years of BSC paramedic science (2 years + 1 resit year) but not graduate/finished the degree as it really was not for me.

I wanted to reapply at a different university (Coventry university) for BSC adult nursing (or alternatively the nursing associate degree) but wasn’t sure if i would be funded for a new degree considering previous years of study, i know nursing is classed as an exception course but wasn’t too sure how it all works.

any advice is really appreciated thanks!

Nursing is an exception course for both ELQ and previous study. You’ll be funded as if it’s your first time at university.

The online application can be a bit buggy/stupid about this and stop applications once you declare the previous study so be prepared to fill in the pdf application form instead (start your application early so there’s time to sort out the bugs)
Hi Souaep,

What academic year were you thinking of applying for? Is this a Full Time or Part Time course? How many years is the course in total?

Thanks. Stephen.

i was going to apply for September 2025, as a first year as my previous study cannot carry over.

It is a three year course for the BSC adult nursing, or alternatively two year course for the FDSc nursing associate in which both would be full time.

thank you ☺️

Hi there,

Nursing is a full time exception course as long as you're not already registered in this field. The BSc Adult Nursing should be fine but the FDSc may not. Can you confirm the course details for this and university you would be studying with?

Thanks,
Claire

25/26 courses are on system yet so basis this on the current year 24/25. These codes aren't bringing anything up on our system. Do you have the full names of the courses and start dates?

Thanks,
Claire

Hi souaep,

The Adult Nursing course is eligible for support and is an exception to previous study and equal level qualification rules however, Nursing Associate courses are subject to previous study an equal level qualification rules.

Thanks, Clare
