mmu transfer

hi!

im currently in my first year at the uni of lincoln doing compsci, and really considering transferring elsewhere. my reasoning is the location - i come from a big city, and i just really miss it? i thought I'd like a small town vibe but, yeah, not for me lol.
im considering transferring to unis back in my home city, or into manchester or london, or even sheffield. specifically considering mmu, as i really want to experience manchester having been there a few months ago and really loving it! and obv since im at the uni of lincoln, things like uom or better london unis are out of the question (and its also just hella expensive which i dont have facilities for lol)

any advice would be really appreciated, just regarding whether i should stick it out, or transfer? i just feel really confined and bored here, and idk what i should do

Hey there:smile: my name is Molly, a student rep at MMU. I’m in my final year at uni now and I have been loving living in Manchester. I’m really hoping to stay after graduation! I’m originally from a little town not too far from Lincoln so I understand your current struggles haha. Manchester has so much to offer students from great night life to career opportunities after uni. If you have any specific questions about student life here or course related questions just let me know, I am happy to help!

Have a read of https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1781424
Arrange a meeting with your tutor before the christmas break to ask them to provide you with a UCAS reference
Get your UCAS application sorted over Christmas and your reference added in early Jan and sent off to 5 different universities (including MMU but also why not try UoM and some other universities in bigger cities too)
Decide in the summer whether you want to continue next year at Lincoln or switch

Hi @justmoiraa

We may consider applicants who wish to transfer from another university into Year 2 or 3 of most full-time degrees here at Manchester Met.

Please note that where advanced entry is possible it is always considered individually by the Admissions Tutor and only suitable when an applicant has successfully completed sufficient study in a subject closely related to the degree they wish to study here at Manchester Met. The Admissions Tutor will have to assess how closely your previous study matches the degree here at Manchester Met to determine if you have the necessary subject knowledge and academic skills to progress onto Year 2 or 3 of the chosen degree. We can only assess qualifications once applications have been submitted.

Please check our online prospectus to browse module details: https://www.mmu.ac.uk/study/undergraduate

To be considered for a transfer, you will need to complete a new UCAS application at www.ucas.com
Please ensure you complete the relevant section of the online application which indicates your point of entry i.e. Year 2 or 3. You may wish to explain your reasons for applying for a transfer in your personal statement.
