The Student Room Group

Hello!

Saw a few people doing this to try to make friends on here so i wanted to try so hiii :]

Not saying my irl name duh but you can call me mari. I'm 16 and a cisgirl. I'm born in england and raised in the midlands but right now I'm not living in england. I might go back for alevels and definitely after uni.

I plan on doing psychiatry not for the pay or because being a doctor is a stable job or whatever but because I'm interested in psychology and i genuinely want to help heal people and this field has both.

My favorite authors are mary shelley and edogawa ranpo. My favorite book is tales of mystery and imagination a compilation of edogawa ranpos short stories. My favorite mangas are kaguya-sama: love is war! And bungou stray dogs.

As for hobbies, I've always been interested in literature and writing even though I'm dyslexic.
I mainly listen to vocaloid and musical songs as well as goth(yes I'm a goth) and a bit of punk stuff.
I also like sports especially football and netball even though I don't play much anymore because there's no clubs like that let girls join where i currently live which sucksss. I also really like playing and studying chess if you consider that a sport although I'm not that good as I've only just started playing again a few months ago even though i used to play when i was like 8 or 9.
And I'm always happy to make even more friends

Hi there!

I'm not going to tell you my real name but just call me the Merchant to be honest, currently a GCSE student in the UK, possibly cooked. Username is derived from wrist problems I had after an exam, originally planned to name myself "WristPainMerchant"

Strong interest in Politics, Economics and History, naturally not a fan of Maths or Physics. Planning to do Politics or Economics in University.

Avid Anthony Horowitz and Bob Cattell fan. Staunch no-anime & no-manga attitude (depressing to some, ik), I barely listen to music (religious beliefs) and a huge sports fan, mainly Cricket (due to the country I'm originally from) but also football (I support Liverpool)

Nice to meet you! :wavey:

Nice to meet ya too :]
Completely understand the math hate lol, although i do like physics. I've read a book from anthony horowitz before, house of silk. Haven't read any of bob cattells books though, what do you like about his books? Also why are you against anime? Not trying to change your opinion, just curious why you have it. Also, sorry if it's too personal and you don't have to answer, but what religion are you? Also are you from india or south asia? Ik those countries are really big on cricket.

Cattell's books focus on Cricket mostly, his Glory Gardens series is amazing. I just don't like anime, no idea why, gives me the ick. I'm a Shia Muslim, and I'm from Pakistan (South Asia isn't a country)

Hi! I'm currently writing my dissertation on Exploring the Intersection of Fashion and Identity within the Goth Subculture and I’d love to hear from people who are actually part of the community. My research focuses on how fashion plays a role in expressing identity, personal experiences, and subcultural belonging.
Would you be open to answering a few questions? It’s completely anonymous, and your perspective would be really valuable. Let me know if you’re interested, and I’ll send over the questions!

Thanks so much xx

Avid Anthony Horowitz fan you say? Have you read Trigger Mortis? bc I read it after having loved some of his other books and I really hated that one.
