Uni application and IELTS score

Hi I am an international student and is trying to apply for LLB recently. My overall IELTS score is a 7.0 (apart from speaking at a 6.0, other ones are 7.0 and above).
For some universities' minimum requirement for IELTS is a 6.5 for all components. Just wondering if I am still possible to enroll in those schools, or the schools may not even consider my application because my speaking score is 0.5 below the minimum requirement?

Glasgow, Leeds and Exeter are the RG unis that ask for 6.0 in all components

Thx! I'm gonna apply to Glasgow, do you have any idea about LLB in Leeds? How are the teachers and the campus?

Hi Alizzz,

I can only really speak about Coventry University as I do know that they look for an overall score of 6.0, so you would be completely fine to apply; however if a university specifies a minimum score of 6.5 in all components, falling short in one component (like your 6.0 in speaking) might affect your eligibility. However, your overall score of 7.0 and strong performance in other components could make some universities more flexible, especially if you have other strong qualifications or supporting evidence of English proficiency. if you do face any issues, I would say to contact the admission team of your chosen university and have a talk with them seeing if they are able to be flexible with your application!

Best wishes,

They’ll still consider your application but if you receive an offer it will include a condition to take another English test and achieve the required scores.

But only if my other grades are outstanding right? 🥲
I’m thinking of applying to Manchester, Bristol and Southampton, three of them require a minimum of 6.5. Manchester and Bristol need an average 7.0, and Southampton needs an average 6.5
My predicted score for IB is a 41, with 766 for my HL subjects (Econ 7, Bio 6, English B 6), do you think this grade is good enough to talk to the admissions team in those schools?
Depends what IB score those unis ask for! But yes, you’ll be considered if you’re in the ballpark.
