Gcse maths help i'm doing foundation and keep getting entered am not sure if passing

I find maths and everyday life maths so difficult. I'm struggling with long multiplication (where u put the 0 at the end of the answer, show me the method 100 times 1000 times and I still don't get it or I've mastered it it depends if the answer is right or wrong idk). And the same with long division or any maths word problem are we timing, taking away, adding or dividing. What is the Q asking me? And telling the time difficult aswell like for example quarter past? what time is that? I'm doing foundation and keep getting entered into the exam but am not sure if i'm passing i'd love to do higher. factorising, algebra, etcc..

If you want to improve your gcse maths skills id suggest you do practice questions (Corbett maths 5-a-day is really useful) and then when you get a question wrong you can watch a video on how to do that kind of question and re attempt it. Once you’ve understood the topics you were weaker at on the worksheet then search up pdf of questions on that topic and do them until youre confident you’ve mastered the skill. Also if you struggle to do methods because theyre just being taught to you with no explanation as to why they work it might be worth trying new methods to do questions which feel more intuitive- have you tried the lattice method for multiplication for example? I much prefer that method personally to the column method!

Maybe watch some video tutorials and do some practice questions- the lattice method of multiplication just involves using your times tables so no adding in extra 0s! It’s great you have family who can tutor you 🙂

i think it's the column method.

Yeah, with the column method of multiplication you have to add zeros. I personally dont like that method of multiplication so i use the lattice method instead- you dont have to add zeros in that one so if you’re struggling with the adding zeros you could try out the lattice method of multiplication.

my school uses the lattice method. it's too confusing. so which numbers will be timing?

Id suggest watching a video on the method. The basics is that you use diagonal columns and you only need your times tables up to 9x9 because you do the multiplication one digit at a time.
