I would like to ask people that applied for uni's that only teach Dental therapy, if you mentioned in your personal statement whether you want to become a dental hygienist and therapist or a dental therapist, only asking cause I'm a bit confused-I know its for dental therapy but not sure if they will be teaching dental hygiene alongside. For example LSBU teach Dental therapy would it be only to mental one would like to become a dental hygienist and therapist or safe to mention dental therapist.
I have mentioned both. I queried it myself when writing mine but I am applying to five universities with a mix of both hygiene and therapy. I think universities will take this into consideration. Most offer one, the other or a combo and the scope of practice for each are so similar with the therapist's only slightly wider that I think most would accept students applying for both and reflecting that in their personal statements. That's my opinion, but I've been offered an interview for Dental Hygiene at one of mine.
I’m not sure about others but I’m pretty sure lsbu doesn’t accept it. Most people I know who applied for both with a dental therapy and hygiene personal statement got rejected because of the ps not being specific to the course.

Last year, I wrote ‘dental hygiene therapy’ in my personal statement and was still invited for an interview by LSBU, I applied for dental therapy. Since providing hygiene is within the scope of practice for a dental therapist, it shouldn’t negatively affect your application. However, if you’re concerned, I would recommend contacting admissions directly for clarification.
